So I've been gaming for a while on pc, and this problem has just arose. I'll be in the middle of a game and out of the blue I hit a crazy lag spike followed by sound shutters of the game.
I average about 120 fps in the game I play, and it drops to literally 1 fps. And the sound starts bugging out. And after about 20 seconds it goes back to normal. It happens randomly, but never back to back. There is at least a 3 hour gap in between the lag spikes.
Specs:
Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming AM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8370
GPU: PNY GTX 960 OC
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16gb
PSU: Lepa N500
HDD: 500GB
Please help.
(OP here)
This happens in all the games I play. Not just this one game.

Throttling. Or energy or temp problems. Try cleaning and renew thermal paste on CPU/GPU.

(OP here) Temps are fine. I run at about 60°C when gaming.

Do you use the sound output on your 960?
