In which point you didn't give a shit about ricing anymore and settled on what your distro gave you? This is my third week on linux and after trying a dozen of distros I just said fuck it and settled on ubuntu 16.04 lts.

I never really gave a shit about ricing. I downloaded the source code of dwm, modified config.h with some colors to match my wallpaper, applied the autostart patch, typed make, waited 10 seconds, typed make install, created the xsession file so lightdm would detect it, and voila, I have a working system. Took me around 10 minutes.

Anyway, my OS is Debian 9 ("Stretch")
