Honestly, I can't stand Windows and most of what MS is doing but VSC is really nice. I used vim for a while and it's all well and good until you've got to be editing 10 files spread across 5 different directories within a large project folder. I like to debug using the command line too so I've got to open another window or otherwise use tmux. Sure I could use tmux, I could go through hoops to install a tree view plugin, I could use vim tabs but it wouldn't be very pleasant. I know because I tried it for a while.

If I need to open a file or two I'll always use vim but otherwise VSC is much nicer to use.

I do agree with some of the complaints in this thread but I still think it's worth using over vim. It's certainly better than atom so unless there are any other contenders I'll stick with it.

I started learning vim 2 weeks ago, got plugins for VS and I use it daily on my laptop and fucking loving it. I don't care what people say, if it wasn't for people on here bashing me for not trying it, I would never have learned how a personalised VIM is the nicest thing to use ever.

VS code is trash in comparison, can't think of a single thing it can do that my setup can't. Sure I don't know everything yet, but I've picked up most things
