Tell me why Manjaro Deepin ain't the shit /g/ lords.

Thing runs great and is beautiful, unlike most distros and environments.

There's some horrible inconsistancies just waiting to rear their ugly heads, Anon. Just give it time.

Just get a Mac you poorfag.
>>
>>59206026
no games
no good software

common for all distros tho
>>
>>59206026
Why use Manjaro memepin instead of Deepin itself? The latter is optimized with many people working on that specific distro, the former just slaps the DE on top of their Arch fork and hopes everything works well longer than an hour.

I want something that I'm used to and that's so easy a 4 year old could navigate it. I also want stability. This is why I use Debian with Cinnamon. I don't care about looks, only functionality.
>>
that looks pretty nice actually, might have to install Manjaro on another drive at some point
>>
>>59209186
If you want Deepin, you install Deepin, not Manjaro with a Deepin DE. Manjaro Deepin is literally a Manjaro community release. It's bad enough Manjaro devs are notorious for their bumbling, but why on earth would you unironically use a Manjaro community release? Sheesh.
>>
I use Manjaro KDE

Isn't that just Manjaro with a GNOME theme?

And isn't Manjaro just a pre-riced Arch?

You know, you can just install GNOME on Manjaro instead of getting Manjaro Deepin

In fact you can just install GNOME on Arch and call it a day
>>
it's all fun and games until pacman syu or whatever the fuck it is breaks something rendering your system unusable

doesn't matter when you're 15 like most of /g/ but when you get older it sucks
>>
>>59211426
This can actually happen on Manjaro, can confirm. Manjaro leaves you with a broken system eventually.

Arch does NOT do this. I have been using for two years now and have not had anything break, this is a meme on /g/ that is simply not true. The only time anything has ever broken was when I was messing config files and didn't really know what I was doing.
>>
>>59211378
>And isn't Manjaro just a pre-riced Arch?
Not even remotely. If it were just a "standard, vanilla" automated install of Arch with an optional WM/DE slapped in there it might not be so bad. As it is, they make all sorts of their own fundamental changes to Arch, some of which make Arch users/devs question their sanity.

You mean a repo with arch packages delayed by two weeks for stable?
Arch is literally upstream for manjaro.

yeah i updated manjaro and it took permissions away from everything lmao every time i tried to boot itd kernel panic and say it didnt have permission to execute anything. and whenever i try to boot its live iso it refuses every time because it cant find a certain file, no matter what system i use it on. ive written the iso with both unetbootin and rufus and i cant get shit to fucking work. i love manjaro when its functional but christ dude its so easy to break

Manjaro works better than arch desu.

I don't know why everyone has such a stigma against it. Probably the best Linux experience I've ever had having tried everything short of Gentoo.

Tb.h I was the most happy with that distro ever, but some updates used to broke it every time, so I downgraded my laptop back to kekbuntu

It really is more stable than you'd think. The meme was born because ricers typically flocked to Arch. They'd fuck up their configs and blame the distro. I like a Arch a lot but I must admit, my reasons for liking it are very minor. It's really not better or worse than anything else in the long run, it's simply more sensible to the way I work. For instance, pacman -Syu makes more sense to me than apt update, apt upgrade, apt autoremove.
>>
>>59219024
Fair enough, anon. I just appreciate how immersive it makes a maximized window feel.

>>59219080
Instead of sorting through a small list you get a big interface with all your applications listed out in alphabetatical order along with their much bigger and much easier to recognize icons. It's much more user friendly but I suppose that's why /g/ hates it.

>>59219204
I like how it said there's a library I had to update, which I did, then Abiword shouted the library's too new.

OS X is the poor man's OS X. Hackintoshing isn't that difficult, even on cheap-ass 2nd hand hardware.
