While using my Laptop I noticed that there are huge distro-related differences when it comes to battery life, even though I used the same DE (in that case GNOME3) on all of those I tried. On Antergos the battery lasted 3-3 1/2hrs, about 2 1/2 hrs on Manjaro Gnome Edition and 1 3/4 hrs on Ubuntu Gnome. All of these distros have about the same amount of bloat, also I used same brightness settings, TLP etc...The fuck?

Out of all distros I've tried, Arch gives me the most battery life on my XPS 13 (9360), I get about 13 hours vs 8-9 hours I get from other distros.
Ubuntu is fucking awful, don't use it.

Ubuntu is great what are you talking about ?

You have to make compromise some time.
i don't like any distro because they don't feel good while using it. Ubuntu is easy and work great i have something like 10h battery with it.

do you even rms?
I found the exact opposite. Ubuntu gave me a longer battery than gentoo even following the advide of powertop and the arch/gentoo/think wikis

Linux is a clusterfuck when it comes to power usage.
I've had crappy battery life on my laptop using arch, but then i followed some guides, and managed to almost double it, the problem was that cpu was always working at max frequency, which caused it to draw a lot of power.
my laptop lasts like 6 hours but i rock wifi all the time and pretty bright screen. there's this thing called a charger i have and since I'm not Dr. Alan Grant in fucking africa digging up dinosaurs I just plug it in when it's low
