Yes

>tfw I was just playing Mayhem in Monsterland on my C64c
>>59199896
A shared first place with BBC Model B. This one had a blazing fast 2 MHz processor. Also the OS was pretty good.
>>59199896
Not enough colors from the VIC-II chip but yes. Would've loved to have something like the Plus/4 palette in there.
>>59199896
it has some of the must unreliable hardware ever (and it was on purpose)
the ICs literally commit suicide
>>59203963
also the award goes to the MSX computers
just a shame that they barely tried to market them in NA
>>59203963
>the ICs literally commit suicide
No, they cook themselves.
Also the PSU is a unstable faggot who likes to fry shit.
What about the spectrum. You gotta love the spectrum.
>>59199896
nah it was shit for getting serious work done. Literally a childrens toy
>>59204059
We do, but the C64 is comfy on the ears.
>>59203993
If MSX is the best then i'm the queen of sheba. Might've been more capable with the graphics but they certainly weren't better. You needed to buy special cartridges just to run MSX-DOS on the damn things and the default sound chip was way more crap compared to the SID or Atari's Pokey. Yeah you could add an FM-Pac or a moonsound cartridge but that's even more things you needed to buy.
>>59204117
but that's precisely why i think it's neat
there's so many ways to expand it
also the MSX2 had MSX-DOS support built in i think
>>59204059
I regret I lost my Russian clone. There was like 30 tapes of software as well.
>>59204145
Nah, i had a Philips NMS8245 and it would only run BASIC. As cool as the thing was, i sold it because getting it to do anything fun was a pain in the ass and required rare and expensive add-on cartridges. They're hard to obtain nowadays and i'm guessing it was near-impossible back in the day. One of those carts on eBay would likely set you back as much as a complete Amiga computer, which can do sampled sound and 4096 colors out of the box. It comes out as kinda lame when you consider that other personal computers from the same era like the Amiga and AppleIIGS had this kind of stuff built-in while the MSX still ran on a Z80 and needed cartridges...
>>59204578
the amiga and IIGS were 16-bit computers, they were completely in their own class
>>59199896
>was C64 the best 8 bit "personal" computer of all time?
yes
/thread
>>59204602
>the amiga and IIGS were 16-bit computers, they were completely in their own class
>Amiga, Motorola 68k
>16-bit
what drugs are you on?
>>59204621
don't thread your own post pleb
>>59204602
Indeed, but i'm just comparing machines that came out at more or less the same time (1985-1987-ish).
>>59204715
Eh, 32bit with 16bit data bus... No need to insult people over technicalities like this.
>>59204838
>No need to insult people over technicalities like this.
I didn't intend to insult anyone, just asking what mind altering drugs you are on that warp reality so much that "technicalities" seem reasonable
>>59204890
Yeah, i mean how much of a braindead doofus and failure at life one has to be in order not to know the piece of old computer trivia where 68k machines are technically 32bit. Sad!
>>59204947
Looking at the thread we are in, you are right, not knowing something like that is a real failure.
>>59199896
Amstrad ftw
>>59203340
It is the game which looks like a demo
>>59205032
but it plays great and it's fun
I'm glad I was still shitting in diapers when these computers were still around and my first actual computer was had win3.1
Truly a miserable device.
>>59205090
>Truly a miserable device.
Indeed, I feel bad for anyone who had to use a Win3.1 PC
>>59205094
t. c64 nostalgia nigger
>>59205125
Didn't have a C64 as a kid, did have many computers over the years though, passed down from my brother, like CPC464, Amiga 500, Atari ST Mega and several x86 shitboxes like IBM XT and generic 386 shit.
