Anyone awake? I need some help. My laptop keeps showing this message about "checking media: fail" and now my laptop won't boot up. What's the issue?
You're fine i wouldn't actually worry about it!
Probably your HDD broken.

it was working fine an hour ago. i shut off my laptop for a few minutes and now it's doing this

>No boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine
Next time, don't upload your pictures upside down.
Try taking out the hard drive and putting it in a different computer. It'll determine whether or not that's the problem.

It happens when a hdd is dying.
Boot some Linux from disk or usb flash or boot hdd regenerator.
Before doing those you can check if your hdd is physically ok.
Your hard drive might've gotten dislodged or something. Try taking it out and putting it back in.
It's the HDD, most likley. Try litening, if you can hear it making wierd sounds it's dead. Also if it isn't makimg any sounds.

It's louder than usual.
>>59193809
That probably confirms that it is the problem. Whether you can fix it, or, at least, get the data back is another question.

I took out the HDD. I doubt just putting it back in would do anything.

It's saying that my HDD can't be detected.

You can't repair it yourself. Better bring it to a repair centre if you want your HDD/data back.
I'd at least try doing a live boot into Linux to see if you can get the data off.

So there's nothing I can do?
Might as well come clean, I'm fairly certain this only happened because I was pissed off doing homework and slammed my hand on the keyboard.

Anyone ever tell you that sudden movements and pressure are bad when the HDD is running? Jesus buddy. Take care of your equipment.
>>59193678
Dead hard drive, might be able to salvage the data by finding a donor hard drive and swapping logic boards and/or BIOSes. Look it there are websites with model specific instructions and even parts for sale.

How old was the HDD?
unplug any USB devices attached.
