Anyone know why all images I send through Messenger (on Android) come out looking like shit?
Pic related is a comparison of the original image and the image that gets sent
It's the file compression system that they use

they compress it to save bandwidth and storage space

I assume they compress and rehost the images you share. Saves bandwidth. If you want to send originals, don't use messenger. Use a hosting service like Dropbox OneDrive etc.

But like a few months ago it wasn't like this. And if I send images through a browser on my PC it comes out pretty crisp, so I dunno what's going on with my messenger app

When it says "file to big, compressing" when you attach it to an msm message, it isnt lying
media in MMS are compressed. look it up, or try sending yourself a video. you'll see what i mean. it has always been like this.

No but anyone else that send me pictures they are pretty much crystal clear. I feel like I'm the only one with this problem, and it only just started like a few months ago

i have noticed this, too
the android app seems to cuck the compression much more than the web apps

just don't send the pic, upload it to some image host (postimage, imgur, etc) and send them the link.
