How did you start learning C++? I really like the codecademy format (lol) to get familiar with the language and for basic introduction to syntax but there's no such thing for C++. Any favorite books or websites?

>How did you start learning C++?
I got hired as a developer and the existing code base was in C++
Before you ask, no I didn't fake my way in. The employer was fully aware that I didn't know any C++ before, but they were impressed enough with my technological knowledge that they hired me anyway.
Anyway, favourite C++ books:
Effective C++, More Effective C++, Effective Modern C++, by Scott Meyers
Exceptional C++ and More Exceptional C++ by Herb Sutter

What kind of technological knowledge did you have?
In the army...

A master's degree in computer science with specialisation in network programming (and a lot of C programming).
I just can't wrap my head around object oriented coding. Seems like a huge cluster fuck ever time I try to touch it. But I'm a noob anyway.

I started with embedded C
and it was easy to pick up C++ since you can basically program C++ like it's C

Why did you get a masters instead of a bachelors? Would you recommend it?
learncpp.com is good for beginners and even intermediates
