Can someone explain to me why i would spend an extra $100 on an 1800x when a 1700x for only .2ghz more clock speed when the 1700x allegedly is very easy to overclock.

I heard they use "cherry picked wafers" but that sounds like bullshit. It's more like cherry picked chips which can clock better. It's also an obvious way of getting more money from those than want the best. I'm looking to spend around £3500 on my new red build, $4000 or so.
