Even by 2013 there were games which had a quad core as a minimum requirement. Not recommended, minimum. And so many non-gaymen applications get better than 8x performance from having 8 cores because of how well they scale with HT/SMT.

I hope you fucktards trying to tell everyone to waste $240 on a 7600k have done so yourself. I can't wait to see you 2 years from now trying to justify that "60fps is good enough" because you get bottlenecked on the newer games with its 4 threads.
