I was considering getting a new laptop just to have at work because I work long shifts with nothing to do. I really know nothing about Mobile parts only gaming PCs

I was wanting something to play a few light games on, nothing crazy. Is the Intel HD Graphics 520 decent enough or am I looking to need a 1GB dedicated for any real enjoyment?

I am seeing the NVIDIA 940MX 2048MB on some things but they are over $500

Just wondering what a good option would be, I dont want overkill.

For a no/few-compromise gaming laptop you'll be spending 1k. 500 would probably do mid-range.
What exactly do you mean by lightweight? If you know generally what games you'll want to play, there are loads of comparisons out there for ranges of gpus playing various games.

get a used Dell Latitude with a Quadro.

what kind of light games are we talking about because modern Intel graphics will happily run things from '05 and earlier.

World of Warcraft
CSGO
Planetside 2
Rocket League

that's basically it.

ok looks like a AMD-Radeon-R8-M445DX will do fine...

good taste in shooters ma mang

I like to use this site for comparing GPUs: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp%5B%5D=1272&cmp%5B%5D=3255

I put up the minimum and the recommended GPUs for Planetside 2 vs Intel's HD 520. Looks like it falls somewhere middle ground.

Personally I'd want to buy something with a solid, dedicated card for a bit of futureproofing, but it's up to you to figure out how far you want to go up the ladder.

Slightly wrong link:

right. Well I have a PC for home use, this would literally only be used at work to dick around on so I wasnt wanting to spend to much cash on it.
