Only one processor has ever existed; it was salvaged from an alien ship that crash landed. What we know as "processors" are actually quantum tunneling mechanism that access the Central Processing Unit. Originally we were only able to use a fraction of the CPU because our methods of transmitting the data were so crude, but piping mechanisms have gotten far more sophisticated and we're close to reaching peak saturation.
