I did a setup of RetroPie and it works pretty good. I did pretty much everything pre N64, except for the N64 which you might need to reconfigure to exit properly from the emulator. Everything else works good.
Also, I couldn't get to run Conker's Bad Fur Day and I'm not sure why.

The buffalo gamepads are very good despitet their low price
I only can recommend them

I was able to run Banjo-Kazooie on a RPi3. it ran ok-ish but I had to fiddle with it's settings to make it run. Also Mario Kart 64 ran pretty good

My brother and me get a second hand Nintendo 64 with Zelda OoT and Super Mario 64 for Chrismas because my family was poor
My father connected it for us at the old television of our grandparents
We spend all night playing with it
