There's a big difference between a file picker and a file browser. In the first you want to select an item as easily/quickly as possible, in macOS you can do that by simply draging a file from anywhere else into the dialog, and itll automatically navigate to the file, ready to be selected. A file browser exists to open directories, move files, quickly browse/open files, create directories. A filebrowser needs to be able to do many things. With a filepicker, it needs to do one thing, and it does on macOS, making it very convenient.

As someone who has to use a macbook 8 hours a day 5 days a week, coming home to KDE is very refreshing. OSX does nothing but get in my way and frustrate me with driver and window manager bugs, as well as undesirable behavior that is built in just for the sake of being diifferent. OSX is trash. When I went back to Windows, its behaviour seemed unintuitive and I accidentally moved files when I meant to select them.

That's not Linux. That's the GTK file picker. The KDE file picker has image previews. I use Gnome 3 but I hacked Firefox to use the KDE file picker.

The lack of image preview is a feature that the GTK file picker doesn't have. It has nothing to do with Linux.
