hey /g/,
I want to backup some personal data, is there any online service you suggest now that dropbox was compromised?
or should I just go tinfoil and and viseversa to a disconnected hardrive?
shameless bump.
how big is the data and does it contain anything illegal ?

dropbox was never recommended
the best way of backing up data is buy going and buying an external hard drive and copying shit to that

pictures, work related projects and music projects, looking at about 200-300 gigs to start.
nothing illegal.

nothing online that is worth it? don't mind paying for the bonus of not praying that I'll never kill my backup drive..

your data isnt secure when its in the hands of someone else. stop assuming that it doesnt matter if your data gets snooped if its not illegal
physical backups will always be free and your drive aint gonna fail if you just turn it off and store it away when youve done your backup

You could use google drive, microsoft's version of google drive, Amazon's version of google drive, or carbonite.
I'd research these options, find the cheapest and then go with that.

Encrypt your shit then save it online.

>now that dropbox was compromised
It has been compromised from day 1.
If you care about your shit being compromised through a service, then just do it yourself. Buying a couple hard drives every 10 years, rewriting your backups to it every so often, and tossing one in a safety deposit box is less costly than a paid service in the long run. Or you could just use single write bluray discs, I hear those last fucking ages.
