Is it dead?

I've tried using ESR and the regular one for a couple of days. First it was very slow, however I was impressed by Vimperator, which is far more sophisticated than Vimium or any other vim extensions. Then I found out that Vimperator and couple of other plugins disable Electrolysis, hence making Firefox running in one thread. Performance became decent, although I had to switch to VimFX, which is almost the same shit as Vimium. Among the other plugins which didn't work with Electrolysis was "url in title" - I needed it for Keepass auto-type and time tracking. In fact, I haven't found any compatible "url in title" plugin. Finally, I wasn't able to watch porn on xvideos.com (pornhub.com is banned here) - window freeze, I can't turn on the full screen, everything lags.

Why are you using it? Mozilla is somewhat libre software endorser, is that the only reason? Chromium is just way more better. Will the Servo version ever be released? Are the Vimperator/Pentadactyl contributors working or plan to work on the new version? Will there will be any difference between webkit browsers and Firefox on Servo? As I understood they implementing the same plugin API and it's really unclear for me if there will be any additional APIs to make something like Vimperator.

Ah, almost forgot one good thing about it - I get native notifications on my Linux machine which is not easy achievable with Chromium.

And what about Firefox OS? Wiki says it is discontinued, but https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/

>Chromium is just way more better.
actually i don't want a browser that's controlled by google.

Then you can use https://github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium

why? firefox performes just fine on my ubuntu machine.

Or choose from a shit tone of other webkit-based browsers.
>>
>I've tried using ESR
Are you retarded? Use the nightly version. ESR only gets security updates, you're several version behind when it comes to actual performance increase etc.

>I haven't found any compatible "url in title" plugin
One of these maybe?
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/url-in-titlebar/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/url-in-title/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-url-to-window-title/

>I wasn't able to watch porn on xvideos.com (pornhub.com is banned here) - window freeze, I can't turn on the full screen, everything lags.
Your laptop from 2005 probably can't handle HD videos, anyway the /g/ way to watch porn is to stream it through mpv

>Will the Servo version ever be released?
They're working right now on incorporating Servo components.

>Will there will be any difference between webkit browsers and Firefox on Servo?
Servo is a new layout engine written from scratch in Rust, it has nothing to do with WebKit or any other layout engine.

>As I understood they implementing the same plugin API and it's really unclear for me if there will be any additional APIs to make something like Vimperator
The API will be based on the one used by Blink (a fork of WebKit) which will make it easier for developers to make extensions for both Chrom* and Firefox, Firefox will also have additional APIs but some addons will indeed not be possible to turn into a WebExtension, especially the ones who modify the UI.

>And what about Firefox OS? Wiki says it is discontinued, but https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/os/
Yes, it's dead. It didn't offer enough over Android to get people to switch, not to mention that Android has the benefit of being the default operating system. Maybe Mozilla should've made a custom ROM or something instead.

I installed it today for the first time in like 3 years and I'm surprised how comfy it is. All addons just werks as expected and I don't feel any slowdowns when comparing it to botnet yet. I'm going to try it for like a week and I hope I would be able to make a full time switch.

Thanks anon, your extensions are working. Didn't found those on the first 5 Google pages (except https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-url-to-window-title/ which breaks e10s), should've used addons.mozilla.org instead.

As for porn - OpenH264 was disabled by default, that was the reason.

Will keep using it now.
