Why isn't Intel dropping the prices of their cpus right now that the competition can get the same performance for half the price?
I'm on newegg and ncix and they haven't bothered decreasing price
Business major here. It would fuck with their finances something fierce to clear all their stock at a reduced margin. Depending how much they spend on marketing, research and running their fab, they might even have to sell at a loss. That would be very bad.
Remember the GloFlo spinoff? "AMD has a fab albatross necklace" the headlines said? That's Intel's problem now.
Because the chips haven't been released yet and there's no real proof of their performance other than leaks.
Intel won't drop prices by much and will instead spend big money marketing single core performance even though it's only ~5% faster. They'll probably overclock all their current gen of cpu by default just so they can pad the single core performance lead they have.

They will drop prices on the Socket 2011 line-up but the current Socket 1051 stuff will remain fairly static until AMD provides mainstream-tier Zen parts under sold under A series.
mainstream won't even notice ryzen

>has to say he's a business major to justify getting a worthless degree....

from what I see the mainstream has already noticed Ryzen big time

>Worthless degree
All degrees outside STEM are resume fluff. My resume fluff is just more widely appreciated. I'm fully aware of this.
