With the Ryzen blowing Intel out of the water should I just wait before buying a new laptop?
No you shouldn't, AMD will not deliver. They never do, they always disappoint.
No. Nobody should use a laptop for high performance computing anyways. Enough is enough. Most laptop lines recently got refreshed and it'll likely take a very long time before you'll get Ryzen CPU's in laptops.

Call me when you have an actual Ryzen unit in your hands and it doesn't have a massive showstopper bug like the TLB bug and actually delivers the performance promised in the early benchmarks.

I don't really have a choice. I need performance away from home for my job so whatever crappy laptop/desktop schemes won't work.
