So I ordered a Zuk Z2 and it's coming tomorrow. Is it worth flashing CyanogenMod 14 or Lineage OS to it? I haven't used android in over 4 years and don't really know where to go with this. Is it easy to flash a custom rom and will the home button work on the front meaning will I be able to get rid of the on-screen buttons at the bottom?

Get a thinkpad and make a few thinkpad threads as well
And buy logitech mice and post threads about it

Flashing a ROM has become retardproof these days, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'd try stock for a bit tho, if that's enough for you and don't want a close to AOSP experience then there's no need to go into custom ROMs. Not sure how the home button works on the stock ROM, but on CM and probably also Lineage you can change the behavior of the buttons.
