WHAT DO I DO ONCE THIS COMES? SHOULD I REINSTALL WINDOWS? I CURRENTLY ONLY HAVE HARD DRIVES SO I HAVE NEVER HAD AN SSD BEFORE IN MY LIFE PLEASE HELP
its coming sometime today
How many hard drives do you have?
>>59003719
three 2 1TB drives and one 500 gig drive
REINSTALL WINDOWS FOR ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE AS HAVING AN SSD DRIVE FOR STORAGE WOULD NOT BENEFIT YOU THAT MUCH
>>59003669
Yes.
>>59003669
copy/paste your windows folder to the SSD. Easiest way to boot from the new one.
>>59003669
Clean installing will be the best outcome.
>>59003810
You're some new kind of retard I've never encountered before
just set it as your boot drive install windows and you are good
>>59003839
This is neo-/g/, anything goes here.
>>59003669
>SHOULD I REINSTALL WINDOWS?
yes, you dont have to do anything else.
>>59003810
this will not even come close to working maybe MAYBE if you are VERY lucky in the windows 3.11 days but now there is no way its going to do anything
>>59003839
I did it on mine. Works just fine.
>>59003905
how does it boot without the boot partition/loader?
>>59003926
You tell me smartass, I'm not fucking Bill Gates to figure that shit out.
>>59003669
>SHOULD I REINSTALL WINDOWS
no, clone your hdd with the samsung software or todo backup
>>59003926
He probably didnt deleted the X partition of his driver so it will boot just fine, problem is when he removes or change anything on the old HD he is basically fucked.
Here's a thought; maybe you should have figured out what to do with it before getting it.
>>59003999
my HDD is bigger than the SSD that wont work
>>59004012
i mean as far as initial setup
>>59003669
install gentoo
>>59004019
uninstall some games and put your chines cartoon in a new hhd
>>59004259
reinstalling windows is probably faster than transferring all of that
>>59003669
1. Clone your Windows partition onto the SSD with Acronis or w/e (leave 10-20% unpartitioned for better performance)
2. Do the recommended SSD tweaks like disabling superfetch and defrag (Win7 and above should automatically detect a SSD and cancel defragging, but better delete it from the scheduler just in case)
