With the fate of Infinality TBD, is there any way to truly make fonts as nice as Infinality without it? After hours of tweaking hinting, anti-aliasing, subpixel rendering, and lcd filtering, I still can't get it to look the same.

nope, I switched to lubuntu because arch maintainers are retarded and can't into management
Buy a Mac with a retina display and stop wasting time tinkering with pointless bullshit.

But then any text rendered on external monitors looks like shit. I have to use a mac at work and it's literally the worst.

Learn how to fix it.

It takes 20 seconds to do. Or just use DisplayPort instead of HDMI cable and then you don't have to do a thing.

Even if that one thing can be fixed, that doesn't make up for the countless issues with the window manager, task switcher, and generic drivers. Not to mention that the "apple way" is apparently to have settings menus which any buttons you click are immediately applied (no separate "apply or "save" button) and there is no way to undo any changes you make other than remembering what the previous settings were.

sorry to have replied. I'm out.
I use Debian, but these instructions are for Arch Linux, they work fine for me: https://gist.github.com/cryzed/e002e7057435f02cc7894b9e748c5671
Important note: Make sure your local.conf looks like this:<?xml version="1.0"?>don't use single quotes.
Lubuntu also has good font rendering. Here's a preview of my Debian Machine's font rendering.

Yeah, that's what I expected from a literal macOS shill
>>59003851
tru, just switch to lubuntu
