Maybe I should get a new GPU to replace my GTX580...
I'd recommend waiting for Zen and the 1080Ti/Vega
Usually I don't advise waiting, but Zen is tantilisingly close and the i7 950 is a good CPU anyway, you can wait a few months.

Yui is cute. Cute!
I have an i5 2500 K and Geforce 780 that have lasted about five years (GPU is an upgrade).
I can run most games but it does chug a little bit on the modern ones on high detail. Also running a very comfy windows 7.
So while I'm excited about a potentially new CPU, I want to see how Ryzen works in Windows 7 without official support. Because I'm definitely not going to "upgrade" to 10.

Prepare for features that don't work and Unknown Device in your Device Manager permanently. Maybe some BSODs for good measure.

That's what I'm concerned about. I won't upgrade if that's what happens. I'm getting a bit too old for games.

Cute, but dumb.

I doubt it'll be this bad, but I bet power and frequency management won't work nearly as well in Windows7.
I'm just gonna... fuck it, dual boot Windows 10 and Windows 7.
I'm on an i5-2500k as well. It's starting to show its age under heavy load even though my 7970 still works great.
The big thing for me is I live in the South, so power-per-watt is actually a big deal here. An i5-2500k is hot enough on stock clocks. So I'm pretty excited to triple the number of threads, and get higher speeds for a lot less power/heat usage.
Not to mention, I can probably put this i5-2500k in an old case with an old 5770 and get like $200 for it. It still being a good CPU means it's still relevant on the used market and I can help fund my Ryzen upgrade with it. Only looking at like $550-$650 for a 1600X, motherboard, and 32gb of ram.
