I'm waiting for the AMDGPU DC code to land in the Linux kernel before I upgrade my GPU. Newer AMD GPUs aren't going to work well on Linux without it.
Although, my 7950 is still running well, so there is no rush.

My gtr 770 still runs newest games at FHD 60 FPS on high-ish settings. Literally no reason to change since 2013.

Bought an Samsung RC530 laptop nearly 5 years ago, i7 cpu. It was mad overkill at the time I bought it because I don't use it for video games. Still runs like a champ today. Got some free ram so now it has 8GB, replaced the optical drive with a second HDD caddy. battery is starting to show it's age but replacements are cheap so it doesn't matter. I can see myself using this for another 5 years at least. All I do is compile stuff overnight and webms still encode fast a fuck.

I use the same hardware for as long as half a decade at a time because I've never needed unusually powerful hardware. I don't really play modern video games or render videos or anything like that. The only game I play regularly is Jedi Knight 3 and that can run on 2003 era hardware.

I'm content with my current hardware.

Last time I built my computer I ended up using Amazon. They sent me the case, power supply, and the motherboard. No RAM, video card, processor.. I've only ever had amazon for like a month so I call and complain. They apologize, send another shipment.

Next day I get two boxes of RAM, GPU, CPU, etc. So I put all the ram in, and replaced the CPU/GPU a year or two ago when the first ones wore out.

uTorrent 2.2.1 is the only client that can handle 3000 torrents on my desktop pc while I still play vidya with no noticeable performance loss.
