Just curious what /g/ uses for antivirus software. I just use malwarebytes and adblock and havent had any issues.
Should i be using real time protection and if so what do you reccomend?

I use ESET Internet Security, seems to be decent and has the least system impact from all the AVs I tested

Nothing
Let me for once take this question a bit seriously.
I've been using clamav on all my Linux boxes for years and it has been working great. I also run it on my email back end because I don't trust any windows server with internet access. My front end is a round cube interface.
On my web servers I run nginx, and clamav. This is all run in containers, so I don't really have to worry about it.
For windows, I wouldn't know. But there is a clamav client if I'm not mistaken. You do need some form of real-time protection.
If you're not sure an action is safe , run it in a sandbox. Hell, make containers for everything and be done with it.

Containers are not a security feature, do not treat them at such
>>58981899
In Linuko: none
In Windoza: Norton

They are not, but if set up correctly, you can at least isolate services. And this is a security feature
Havve I been meme'd for using Kaspersky?
I actually kind of like it.
Plus I can use the parental control settings to restrict myself from gaming for too long in one sitting.

Kek
Yes, you have
>big, complex software that runs at the highest privilege levels, with no user interaction, opening every single file that hits your disk
>security
Antivirus has got to be the single biggest ruse in computing history.
>>58984574
Can I at least get a decent reason or two as to why?
Panda. And malwarebytes when I'm feeling frisky
>>58984595
Since you're on /g/ I figured you'd do your own research on this. But hey, here is some of it:
1. Letting an end user security firm supply your security without much interaction with said software is bad security practice
2. Having non audited code run in your production environment for the same reason as 1.
3.
>>58984591
4. It doesn't protect your data.
Any one installing anti virus software does it for the wrong reasons.
First you need to analyse your own usecase, look at the options you have to protect your computing habits or make changes to those that are a potential security risk. Then look at isolating services for >>58984463 reason.
>but I just want to set and forget...
Your an idiot, you cannot lock a door once and expect it to be impenetrable
>okay but doesn't [insert company here] software take care of all of this?
No it doesn't. No anti virus protects from level 8 problems.
>s-so what do I do sempai?
Look up a recent security guide by a reputable security company.
>but it is so dull
You don't belong here then

Honestly I've always thought along these lines.
I have the spersks because my dad buys it in a bundle and always throws me a spare code.
But I've always felt like a firewall, a proxy, a scriptblocker on my browser and sound judgement were all I ever needed
but it was free and my father's an engineer so I trust his judgement too.
>>58984760
Don't use software willy nilly. That's a highway to shit.
Sell the code online for some btc or something. Toss your router, get pfsense box, and ap and do your own security. Your browser is okay safe if it is sandboxed but noscript is helpful some times

Nigger you need some self control

Why

>I can use the parental control settings to restrict myself from gaming for too long
just learn to stop by yourself

Nevemind I'm not guy. To high to not reply
AVG
>>58981899
F-Secure because I got a license for free, I'm on Windows and the Defender or whatever does stupid checks which take up immense amount of disk time.
>>58981899
I recommend brain.exe. Best antivirus so far.
