AMD is a brand that buys Intel's old processor blueprints and re-manufactures them for slightly cheaper.

ARM is a brand that makes cheap-o processors for mobile use. Poorly.

Yeah, I know this information is outdated, but it gets the idea across.

The only reason it's the unquestionable leader is because Intel doesn't bother with it (they just tweak their old desktop processors to be a bit more energy efficient and call it a day). ARM is a lot better than they were 5 years ago, but there still a decade behind.
