So what exactly is "thorn/solace" | SPOTLIGHT, how does it work to identify people on TOR, is it effective, and what law enforcement agencies have access to it (he was quoted at "over 900 agencies, 4,000 officials")?

bump
I'm not in a position to get v& because I don't do anything through TOR but I'm curious as to what exactly this means

Sounds scary and big brother-ish. Too easy to abuse.

Most probably cover names for Tor Browser Bundle exploits used for IP address leakers, as was EGOTISTICALGIRAFFE (used in the first Freedom Hosting hack, although that was because Snowden had used Tormail, finding the huge pile of CP hosting on the box and the subsequent FBI investigation was just a freebie bonus for the case officer there).
Firefox ESR isn't the best base for TBB, really. You'd be better off using Tails. You might even be better off using Chromium via Tor, and there is a project to replace Firefox with Chromium in the Tor Browser Bundle, but it's not the first thing on the priority list as it involves a lot of work.

What a load of dogs bollocks.
Likely some kind of firefox zeroday or JS exploit.
Nothing crazy, just typical security stuff.
