>1440p isn't worth it on a 24 inch monitor

Who started this meme and why?
>>
The people who properly position their monitor on their desk did.
>>
>>58980060
Except even at 2 ft, the PPD is about 51, which is right at the limit depending on which expert/measurement you believe.

Why you memeing, bro?
>>
>>58980060
24" 1440p is 122PPI which is certainly at the upper limit, but should still be fine for most people at proper desktop viewing distances.

If you have poor eyesight, or a particularly large desk that positions your monitors further away from you than is normal, 24" 1440p should be fine.

>>
it's not worth it. is it usable? yeah, but the sweet spot is definitely 27"

t. korean 1440p 27" monitor
>>
>>58980489
where can I obtain one of these korean monitors
>>
>>58980489
Lower pixel density with 27 inch, though. It's not optimal.
>>
>>58980031
This image is triggering me
>>
why would you want a monitor bigger than 23"
>>
>>58982200
I'm enjoy my dual 25" 1440p's desu senpai
>>
I'm about 28" from my monitor, 2560x1440 at 24 inches would be borderline "retina" at that distance. I have 3840x2160 at 24" inches though, a tad excessive for most stuff so I use 125% scaling but it's nice for viewing photos (around 8mp) even if I want to get up close. I may get a wall mount one day and bring it about 5 inches closer (stand would interfere with my keyboard currently).

I have a GTX 1070 and a lot of games still have trouble on max at 1080p.

I am skipping 1440p and going to 4K whenever the gpu's are affordable.
>>
>>58982346

what is that stuff on top of the raviolis?
>>
27 inch 1440p user reporting in,it's breddy gud
>>
>>58982346
what are you playing? almost everything i throw at my 1070 at 1440p stays at least 70fps at the lowest and 100+ average?
>>
>>58982359
>raviolis
I have bad news, anon
>>
i switched from 1080p to 1440p (both 24" monitors). the difference in sharpness is huge, especially outside of games. the crisp yet soft look of text makes reading stuff a lot more enjoyable on screen.
>>
>>58982205
>>58982363

Trying to decide between 25" and 27" 1440p here.
>>
>>58982593
Depends on your viewing distance.

What monitor are you coming from?
>>
>>58980031
It isn't, ppi is too high for 100% scaling at a standard viewing distance

>>58982154

Does a 6GB GTX 1060 support two 1440p monitors (rarely gaming, never gaming on both)?
>>
>>58982613
Standard is 1-2 ft, so you're wrong.
>>
>>58982346
>>58982376
has to be a cpu bottleneck, can't imagine anything else
>>
>>58982745
Most monitors are about 100ppi

>>58982735
You should be buying an RX 480, any modern GPU will support at least 3 4k displays, but the 480 will be better for the long run, and it already caught up in DX11

if you aren't gaming much even an RX 470 would be fine and far cheaper

also don't buy 1440p displays if you're going to be buying displays
>>
>>58982794
>Most monitors are about 100ppi
uhh???

23-24 1080p is probably the most standard monitor out there right now, and it's 91 PPI
>>
>>58982602
I have a 24" 1080p. I find the text is a bit too big, in that I could probably handle a little more PPI without difficulty. But I don't want to go so dense that I end up blowing things up anyway.
>>
>what is UI scaling
>>
>>58982801
that would be about 100 ppi
>>
>>58982821
A waste of pixels

>>58982794
Why not buy 1440?
>>
>>58980031

>>
>>58982881
because 4k displays are so cheap now you might as well go for those instead

Literally no reason to go 1440p other than 144Hz refresh rate if you are pro gaymer

Nice toy, my man.
>>
>>58982966
I feel the same way. 1440p just doesn't make much sense unless you want 144 Hz panels and need one right now.

I have a 1080p/144 Hz at 24" and recently added a cheap 27" 1080p/60 Hz second monitor for comfy controller based gayming. Shitty PPI, I know, but I sit about 3-4 feet away from this monitor and can't see aliasing until I'm about 24 inches from the screen. It's a stopgap until 4K HDR monitors become more affordable.
>>
>>58982794
Ah, you're misinformed. Cute.
>>
>>58980547
ebay or amazon I think has them now

I got mine used for $50 'cause it was "damaged"

>>58980889
sure, but it's more than 1080p@24", which I think most people considered good
>>
>>58982593
>>58982613
dont worry too much about viewing distance my 144hz 1440p 27in looks crisper than my old 23in 1080p

>>
>>58983928
Yes but is it good or not?
>>
>>58980031
27" at 4k here. I scale everything up to 150% though so there's that. Still quite dank for anything requiring multiple windows/sources of information. And rocket league at 4k. I have a second monitor which is 1080@24 and it looks like a Tonka toy next to the 4k one. Honestly at 24 I think 1440 would be best. Then at 27+ 4k
