Have you guys ever used a real UNIX terminal? The one with the big ass keyboards and weird layouts?
If so for what?
Why does the size of keyboard matter?

I've always wanted to set one up somewhere in the house for my server

SDF's the shit. Just got an email a few days ago from Living Computer Museum, I've now got ssh access to a PDP-11/70 running Unix v7 and a VAX-11/785 running OpenVMS 7.3
In the 90s pretty much every library had a big unix system in a the back with serial over cat5 connected to monochrome terminals. I used to work for a manufacturing company that still used these until about 2010.
Many many doctors offices used these until late 2000s.

I was just about to post this. Dynix used to be everywhere in public and school libraries.
I used Sun SPARC Xterminals at my university's library in Eastern Europe back in '00. They were GUI-capable X11 clients (the server was Solaris, obviously), which I mostly used for IRC with irssi. Good times.

I used a real vt100 and a real SUN Sparcstation when I wrote my thesis using LaTeX.
I also used this for heavy duty Usenet News reading, drinking straight from the fire hose. Those were the days.
