Hey Lineagefags, how has your "new" OS been treating you? Does OTA work for you?
>>
>>58969960
It werks for me, oneplusone.
But there as no daily builds, only weekly if I remember
>>
>>58969960
Perfectly fine. And if the OTA doesn't work, just fish the downloaded ROM package from TWRP in /data/data/org.lineageos.updater/app_updates

I've been reading reports of all kinds of shit broken (most likely due to tons of duct taped root stuff, idiotic mods or extreme-edition-black kernels done by your average Pajeet) but
>works on my machine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>
>>58969960
idk i use resurrectionremix which is based off lineage anyway :^)
>>

>>
>>58969960

>>

>>
>>58970064
Why should one install RR instead of lineage?

T. CMfag looking to update
>>
why did they take away the native root support from CM? I had to flash SupreSU
>>
>>58970064
Is RR good? I'm using a lineage 7.1 beta build on my oneplus x.
I don't like the file system so I'm gonna have to change it to something else.
Thinking maybe downgrading it back to cm14.1 or RR. What're the pros and cons for both?
>>
>>58970742
Yass. At least for apps anyway.
>>
>>58969960
>Does OTA work for you?
What?
>>
>>58970940
I'm guessing he means over-the-air updates but if it's like CM, they require some bullshit gimped recovery that overwrites TWRP
>>
>>58970969
I disabled the application "Updater" altogether. People really use this?
>>
>>58970987
I guess so. I mean it's fine if you don't plan on flashing anything else ever
>>
>>58970742
>Giving people a choice on what root solution they want (or lack of it) is bad
btw, you have a flashable zip with their own root in their downloads page, "extras" section.
>>
>>58970999
how is this more choice? they can leave the option (it was off by default) and let you use other root solutions anyway
>>

The OTA works fine for me, even with TWRP.
>>
Installed it on my sister's Galaxy Note 3 and it runs really well. The only complaint is that it doesn't pass safetynet and shit like snapchat doesn't work.
>>
>>58971021
>snapchat does not work.
Good she would just use it to send nudes.
>>
>>58971009
Well, leaving it off means the su binaries are not even installed so you that's a potential attack vector disabled if you don't need any root app. It also avoids tripping banking/finnancial apps that won't boot if they detect su/busybox binaries installed. Third would be, if you're going to use a third party root solution (SuperSU or Magisk) you don't have two versions of the binaries with two different implementations clashing over one another.
>>
>>58971019
can you explain how you do it? Download the update then use TWRP to find it and manually flash? Or is there a way to do everything automatically and keep TWRP?

I'm asking because if I recall right CM required their own recovery to do it automatically
>>
>>58971088
If I take the OTA then I think it just prompts me to install it when the download finishes. Then it reboots into TWRP, flashes the update, and reboots again.
>>
>>58971104
that's great, I'm gonna use that

You're going to have to wait a few months until Xposed is on Nougat so if you want to use it I suggest that you use a ROM based on Marshmallow instead.

Aside from very very little bugs, everything is working.

8.5/10
>>
>>58976606
You are probably using f2fs, that shit is fucked up like everything else samsung is involved with.
The issue is not going to go away any time soon I think, it is just better to stick with EXT4.
Be sure to use an up to date version of TWRP, the latest official release (twrp-3.0.3-0) from twrp.me finally seems to work fine with LineageOS and EXT4 partitions.
It even decrypt encrypted EXT4 data without any issue.
You can backup applications in android using oandbackup if you have root and busybox installed.

Galaxy S3 (d2att) here.

Battery life is insane on the "Efficiency" mode, I've gotten 2.5 days out of my first full charge. It doesn't seem to be good at knowing charge levels (at least yet), it says 1.5 hrs to charge but finishes in less.

Performance isn't great. Pressing a button and getting a response sometimes takes a couple seconds, and the keyboard tends to stutter out if you type too fast.

Note, thought, that I do have OpenGapps Mini installed, so the phone is running Play Services.

I have yet to find something that isn't working (need to try Bluetooth, that's the last thing on my list).

Also, ditch Clockwork for TWRP, especially if you're using an encrypted install of Cyanogen (or Lineage). TWRP has a better design and layout and makes wiping encrypted partitions and reformatting an easy 1-click process.

>>58969960
I might as well wait for the next big exploit before I bite the bullet and switch away from android.
Android is pretty much garbage to begin with, but you never really appreciate how bad it is until you waste all that storage and time to compile it yourself so you can get updates.
The only option is to convince all humans to stop buying new phones so we can fix the software, but that is not happening.

What is the point in everyone doing the same idiotic job in parallel?
The only good thing about cyanogen was I didn't had to compile it myself.
Now that is gone I don't see the point.
>>
>>58979781

Install substratum from play store and grant it root when it asks.
Then you need to apply the theme, and make sure you open up each drop down menu and select the right choice. There are some that if you don't select the right option the theme will fail to load.

>>
>>58969960
It's pretty good, on a Moto G4. Only issue so far is the torch/flashlight button in the quick pulldown doesn't work, but I installed a torch app that does.

LineageOS still has some proprietary components in user space (as well as the proprietary firmware that's pretty much unavoidable on most devices). Freecyngn is a simple script you can flash from recovery to remove some apps that depend on non-free libraries, but it doesn't seem to get all of them. But it does look like LineageOS is freeing some stuff that used to have non-free dependencies, which is good.

>>58990864
Since CMSDK has been removed, there's literally no proprietary software in Lineage anymore, except for Gello and TimeService, and of course device firmwares. SetupWizard and LockClock have been freed, see https://github.com/nvllsvm/freecyngn/issues/40
freecyngn hasn't been updated properly to reflect these changes yet.

t. Someone who has maintained his own patches to remove proprietary shit from the source code since CM13
>>
>>58991505
To add to this, it's unlikely Gello and TimeService will be removed anytime soon.
Gello is simply a fork/rebuild of Chromium, which has source code available. This is due to the deprecation of the AOSP Browser. I'm unsure which parts are proprietary, but I don't trust Chrom* and will probably build a new webview soon with copperheados patches for my phone.
TimeService is included with the device drivers/firmware for your phone. While it's completely unnecessary to have it installed, and I'm unsure what it actually does, it differs per phone and would have to be fully reverse engineered, which isn't something a lot of people are up for doing.
>>
>>58973977
Works completely fine
>>
LG G2 here... should I go with Nightly or Exprimental?
>>
>>58970586
Bls resbond
>>
>>58991505
Right, it's good LockClock and SetupWizard have been freed, and I think that means freecyngn can be a lot simpler since it doesn't have to mimic the setup wizard.

There is also unrar, which mimi89999's fork of freecyngn removes.

But it looks like a bunch of essential apps also have proprietary dependencies, unless the same change affects them as well. https://github.com/nvllsvm/freecyngn/issues/26
>>
>>58986326
>Yet to try it out. Anyone here that has experience with LineageOS on LG G4 (H815)?

I've used it on the LG G4 H811 with T-Mobile.

There is no wifi calling, no VoLTE, no Auto brightness, and do not use the Google stock camera that comes with GApps, you will lose manual mode, it has less features, and it crashes a lot. Use the stock camera that comes with Lineage.

I have to manually flash it.

CM didn't require their recovery. Twrp would also do the trick because it is just a script that runs
