Is this a sign? Have they finally gotten to their senses and started TESTING their patches?
they probably tried to push them but their update system itself failed
Why is this affecting the update schedule for everything though? I mean, what do win7 and 8 updates have to do with win 10 updates and vice versa? How can they all have the same last minute bug?

Because a lot of what's under the hood is the same in all three versions. Remember that MS never removes anything from Windows, they just layer new shit on top of it. Win 10 is like Windows 7.3 with a giant new bloated DE installed.

10 is 8 with more telemetry, which is 7 with a shitty new UI, which is Vista with name change, which is 2003 with a shiny new UI, which is XP with a nicer core system, which is 2000 with a childrens' toy UI, which is a greatly enhanced NT4, which is NT3.1 with the 95 UI, which is 3.1 with a new underlying architecture.

Don't Defender and MSE use the same update system though? They seem to work just fine and they had a new definition update just today.

anon, come on, why did you have to permanently waste some of our bandwidth on a question as stupid as that?
So are the updates still coming out in february? Why isn't Microsoft at least giving an estimate on how long it'll take them? I was assuming they'd fix this problem immediately and today or tomorrow the patch would be out but now I see more and more sites saying Microsoft is likely to skip February entirely.
