Why aren't native 10-bit panels the standard by now? Every screen is 8-bit+ dithering.

8-bit isn't quite enough even for basic sRGB: You can sometimes see banding on subtle gradients. Many games and media players work around this with subtle dithering when mapping their processed output into 8-bit images.
