What even is Mozilla any more? What do they stand for?

Good thing it's not going to last past 59.
>>
>>58915512
Probably got overrun by NSA goons... Highly incompetent...sad
>>
>>58915512
This is like the time they bundled ads in the new tab page, except worse. At least the new tab page didn't have tracking data sent to the advertisers

overruns by SJWs and pajeets
>>
so, what browser are you supposed to use now?
>>
>>58915857
On iOS, which the article is about, you're basically SOL.
Firefox on desktop is still a decent browser, with some tweaking. The problem is that in the past few years, the standing of Mozilla has become more and more uncertain. You can't blindly trust their updates any more, because they might make another retarded decision that screws up everything Firefox stood for.

So keep using FF, but be ready to disable any new garbage that infringes upon your privacy.
>>
>>58915512
>You can turn off the anonymous data collecting of Firefox Focus by tapping on the settings icon, and flipping the switch next to "send anonymous usage data" to off.
So it doesn't matter.
>>
Is Tor actually good if I need privacy? I can't tell if the "hurr durr Tor is a botnet" memes are true.
>>
>>58916810
Except it phones home before you even have a chance to disable it.
>>
>>58917088
>install the app
>go offline
>disable telemetry
>go online
That was difficult. If you're referring to the "upon installation" info the app sends, it's the same info Apple gets anyway. Stop being overdramatic. If that bothers you then don't even use iOS.
>>
>>58915857
Make your own (i.e. Lynx).
>>
>>58916913
Yes. Just don't do anything stupid like signing into email or social media accounts using Tor.
>>

>tfw you will be forced to move to a fork when cuckzilla disables XUL
>>
>>58915512
OK. It's not much of a scandal is it? The option is right there in plain sight.

>Send anonymous usage data

It's not like they're doing it by default and you can't turn it off.

Safari. It's easily the best browser there is right now if you're not an extensioncuck.
>>

READ THE BOLD TEXT

>Data is sent to the adjust backend, not to Mozilla.
For new installs, an "anonymous 'attribution' request is sent to adjust servers containing information on how the app was downloaded. Data includes
>an advertising ID, IP address, timestamp, country, language and locale, operating system, and app version.
Firefox Focus furthermore sends anonymous summaries "occasionally" that reveal
>"how often the application has been used".
The summaries include information on "whether the app has been in active use recently and when". Additionally, the data will
>reveal features of the application that have been used.

Adjust GMBH is a big data specialist known for tracking and analytics services.

>not like they're doing it by default
they are by default, its opt-out

>>58920382
>not much of a scandal
it is, its Not anonymous usage data, set to mozilla for optimization purposes, its quite Unique data, and sent to a third party webtracking company.

HUGE difference, and huge lie
>>
>>58915512
install palemoon
>>
>>58921922
No webms though.
>>
>>58916810
But they lied about it.
Using third party telemetry in a browser alone would allready be very unmozilla, but doing it without the users knowledge is just full on botnetting.
This is a big deal.
>>
Really, what's wrong with chromium?
>>
>>58921991
The VLC browser plugin mitigates that, but it's still not as good as actually having webm support.
>>
>>58915826
fuck pajeets
they're dishonest and smell like shit
