If you spend 12 hours a day sitting down you might as well buy a decent chair
Same reason why buying a good mattress is important

>out of date in 2 years
>chair
>lasts for 10 years

Why aren't you doing all of your coding/writing your novel in a Starbucks like a normal person?

How can reading the L3 from a different socket going through 3 different fucking buses and back be anywhere close to the latency of reading from the main memory?
>>58901166
Because you are reading memory of another processor so you have to request a read ?
>>58901287
Let me rephrase.
Why is reading from the main DRAM almost the same speed when its so much closer?

L3 is shared between cores, not sockets.

>How can reading the L3 from a different socket going through 3 different fucking buses and back be anywhere close to the latency of reading from the main memory?
Because SDRAM has narrow interfaces that lead to request queuing in the memory controllers, and column activation and row selection times that eat up cycles too.
