They fucked up the whole roll out and they proved they're incompetent. They were acting no different than the gahmura who came here and ask about games on linux. Their entire platform was windows based they should have stuck with windows until they were ready to either switch platforms or become platform independent.

also don't forget that in many cases technical quality is actually the last thing a large organization (government or enterprise) considers when picking their software. Often first on the list is "If something goes wrong, do we have someone to blame? Someone that we can sue for breach of contract?" This impulse is why Microsoft still has customers. The same is true for a lot of other enterprisey companies with a reputation for being shitty, like Oracle.

Plus when you run Linux, you really want people who know it well on your payroll to solve your problems. A lot of organizations hate the prospect of hiring (expensive) staff outright. Run Windows and you can hire Pajeet consultants for cheap. You might well end up spending more money and getting worse results in the long term, but remember that this isn't about saving money or getting the best results, it's about covering your ass. Its much easier to justify the kind of spending you have to do to run Windows. And that kind of spending con contracts and support and consultants gives you opportunities for kickbacks.
