hello, /g/. Tomorrow I am changing out my mobo, cpu and ram. I am moving from AMD to Intel. I upgraded to windows 10 during the free upgrade period, and still have my windows 7 disk/product key. I want to prepare my computer for the hardware upgrade, and then restore my windows to how it is now after the upgrade (setting, programs, etc.). I have the OS (and 2 games) on their own ssd. Could someone walk me through how to do this, only leaving out the part where I physically change out the parts?
if you're going to keep the drive where the OS is there's literally nothing you need to do,it's plug and play

the upgrade key is tied to the motherboard. the headache of doing this will take so long you might as well buy a new copy or pirate, whichever you like more.

windows 10 will not reject the hardware changes?

Ensure you are using MS account
Migrate
Run Activation Diagnostics in the new control panel

Microsoft hasn't cared about piracy for a VERY long time. They mainly care about people running their OS. As a result they almost 0 confirmation of hardware if any at all.

You are literally stupid. Microsoft hasn't cared about piracy since Vista. They do almost 0 confirmation of any hardware at all. You almost always can use the same key to any new computer you build from totally scratch.
The Keys you might be thinking might be special Laptop keys and the like that are often limited in scope.
e.g. Home edition which is often on cheap laptops will not install a Pro, or they may have even other shittier laptop-only keys dunno.
