It's Windows Update.

If it has downloaded an update it will wake your computer to try and install it if you have put it to sleep. Even if you have the auto login option turned off for update installation.

Just disable automatic update downloads in gpedit, or when it has downloaded updates set the date for reboot way later in the week.

The switch to Intel in 2006 did indeed bring it closer to the PC side.

Apple picks the best possible parts to go into their products from Broadcom, Intel, Texas Instruments, Samsung, etc.

If you actually breakdown each part individually you will see that they are a good value. The only beef I always have with Apple is the low end GPUs they put in their machines, but they are not designed to be gayming machines.

In other words Macs are not "PCs" they're their own thing. Apple designs both the hardware and software and keeps a tight leash on their products and optimizes them to the T.

Hating on MacBook Pros (literally the best laptops in the world) is a meme and you should be ashamed of yourself. You can hate on their desktops, but don't hate on the laptops.

No it's not, I just ran Intel Power Gadget on my MacBook Pro and it's running at 2.5Ghz on full load. Stop shitposting you dolt.

It only drops down to 800Mhz due to Intel's SpeedStep technology which Apple takes advantage of, if you're not doing anything besides kikebooking or youtubing (sans Flash, which needs to die). On idle it runs lower and stays very quiet.

You really think Apple, a 500 billion dollar company, doesn't have some of the best engineers in the world to figure out thermal issues? Yes they've messed up some in the past, but they get corrected in the 2nd revision of the device. It would be extra hard to dissipate heat, laptops generally arent used outdoors in the rain, people generally don't use laptops on the toilet and even if they did they're probably too big to actually fall in. The slim amount of use you might get out of waterproofing does in no way compensate for the downsides of actually doing it to a laptop.

If you really for some reason have a special use case where you require it, someone else has already targeted that market, go pick up a toughbook. After looking at those I'm sure you'll see why it's just not viable for a consumer laptop.

I push mine to the limit most of the time and I don't even run into problems unless I start rendering shit in Adobe, which puts the CPU at 100% load and it doesn't throttle if the laptop is on a wooden desk or something that's not metal.


I know for a fact that the 2015 rMBP has throttling issues, but my 2014 doesn't.
