>He overpays for a few degrees off
>He has to deal with loud annoying fans and pumps

Meanwhile I paid $60 for an industry leading air cooler that's super quiet, easy to install and zero maintenance.

A blanket statement like what you're claiming is retarded at best.

Confession: I bought an AIO single fan rad system for my 5280K. I was intending on OCing it, but then stopped giving a shit when I realized that it would provide a minimal gain at best for what I use my computer for.

I think the pump is slowly dying, and when it does, I'm going to replace it with a decent air cooler. I guess the nice thing about watercooling the CPU is that, regardless of overclocking, it vents the heat out of the system a little better.

Oh well, lesson learned.
>>
>>58858468
Ok so you're even more right. I said 4.2+ you dumbass. Watercooling is for idiots is my point.

This is one of the VERY few applications low end water coolers are great for.

>>58856027
you got a few options

1) if you have the space, a 212 will beat out most single fan rads
2) if you have the space, a d15 will beat out all dual fan rads and a few triple fan rads

A custom loop will be silent, will be cooler, and will allow for higher ocs, and depending on what you do, that oc may be justifiable (8/10 core systems rendering, that .2ghz oc looks FAR better then a 4 core gaming one in gains)

with a custom loop you also have the ability to pipe the water out of the room and radiate somewhere else, or put the rad into a bucket of water and just let that water absorb the heat, and if it gets warm, add a bit of ice.

hell, you could even use a massive bucket of water as a reservoir and not even use rads, just dump a bit of ice in it every now and then and be done with it. on idle that will cool itself down on its own, and in use you are likely watching temps... if you aren't you are stupid.

so few people take advantage of the stupid but great things watercooling offers you, no shit ifs fucking almost worthless if you vent the goddamn air to something that's inside the fucking case.

Meanwhile my cooler was $11. I am going to switch to watercooling eventually, it just seems fitting when your case is a yacht

People who watercool shouldn't feel bad, it has its uses.

Ultimately though, I hate the idea of thousands of dollars in hardware because of the manufacturer. Only Corsair will replace your shit and it's only up to $1000.

I'm happy with my NH-U12s. I'm doing push pull and it literally just works.
>>
>>58856027

DDC variants are very quiet, and if you know what to buy you can get quiet fans as well. Gentle Typhoons are the shit.

There's refrigeration systems you can connect directly as well as water chillers to pull you below ambient, but they're expensive, noisy and power hungry so nobody really bothers with them

AIO cooling is not watercooling. It has all the cons and none of the pros.

I'll bite. My custom loop cooler keeps my CPU under 60c sustained, which isn't incredible, but also keeps my GTX 1070 at around 26c idle and 36c sustained maximum load.

The DDC pump I use is nearly silent, and those temperatures I mentioned we achieved with minimum PWM duty cycle on my fans.

As for leak risk, sure, but it's a well managed risk when done properly.

Most importantly though, I did it because it's fun. Water cooling is my hobby. I don't do it because I need to.
