Is this a good psu to buy ? I'm going to use it with an i5 6500(unless ryzen is as good and cheap) and an rx 480 8gb

650w is too much for an i5 and 480 unless you have some other reason like a dozen HDD's or something (25w per HDD).

I have it, it's a pretty solid PSU.
I got 650 W in case I ever wanted to SLI and/ or OC like crazy.
It's almost never on due to ECO-Mode and thus one of the quietest PSU I've had so far.
I think they also use SuperFlower tech, so you can't really go wrong.

Here is the thing: Once it degrades 650w is suddenly 550w, and then 450w.
Never aim for 100% usage.
Have a 100w or 150w leeway, because it will degrade at some point.
That said... wouldn't must setups have a realistic TDP of what.... 300?
