I was all like 'Yayyy, Nougat!' when I saw my device was part of the first sweep of upgrades. Then I actually saw Nougat.

There's nothing wrong with touchwiz. But if you wanted a device which gets the latest updates you should have gotten one from a company that doesn't make 50 seperate phone models a year. It's impossible to keep them all updated. You still get security patches anyway. Better to use even an outdated android than iOS.

I'm still in CM(rip) 14, is it safe to move to Lineage already or is it still shit?

If everything works on your device now just stay on it for a few more months. Check their site or XDA to see if your device is fully supported, but from what I've seen Lineage is pretty much CM with a different skin, for now at least.
