Is the Anne PRO any good? I like my keyboards smell and cheap, preferably with arrow keys. The RGB lighting on the Anne is also pretty sweet. Other, much cheaper choice would be the Magicforce 68.

Why is NKRO not available over USB usually? I've heard that some keyboards provide NKRO over USB by simulating a USB hub, are there any solutions other than that? If I just use a ps2 to USB converter, will NKRO still work? Are there any keyboards that require a driver to be used?
>>
>>58842776
Yes. The build quality isn't amazing, but it's quite nice for the price, plus it has Gateron switches, RGB lighting and even Bluetooth, so you definitely get a lot of good extras in exchange for that.

If i get an acrylic case for my GH60 does it mean i dont have to buy a plate anymore?
>>
>>58843475
What do you mean by the build quality isn't amazing? Would the case break on me if it falls one too many times? Are the keys somewhat trash tier?
How do I go about mending this disadvantage, in any case?
>>
>>58843752
The keys are pretty decent doubleshot PBT. It isn't really thicc PBT, but it's nice. Some people don't like the font, but that's subjective. The only main thing I guess is that the case is plastic and it isn't completely compatible with other common 60% cases, but it's not bad. There's a nice video review on the Banggood page if you want to see more of it.

Also, who the fuck drops their keyboard?
>>
>>58843579
You dont need a plate of you want to PCB mount your switches
>>
Best bezel-less full sized keyboard in the ANSI layout?
>>
>>58843447
USB does support nkro and hardware interupt, but that costs money and really has no point since its just a keyboard. Nkro is a meme anyway since most rubber domes have 2kro and people game on them just fine. Also modifiers like ctrl, shift, and space don't count towards the limit and the way that the matrix is designed more then two keys can be pressed at a time. 6kro is plenty and even if your keyboard uses ps/2 that doesn't guarantee nkro. If you do want nkro there are active adapters but those can cost anywhere from 20-40 bucks depending on what you want
>>
>>58843981
There will always be a bezel no matter what
>>
I just wanted to stop in and say I really want an RS96.
>>
>>58844028
I may have worded it wrong.

I'm talking about the type of the keyboard case where the bezel doesn't "extend" over the plate at the edges and covers the lower portion of the keycaps.
Kind of like here >>58839658. I don't know the technical term for this.
>>
>>58844203
Thats called floating keycaps. E-Element has some cheap ones that cost like 60 bucks on amazon
>>
>>58843447
To answer your first question, because the HID USB thing only sends 8 pieces of information at a time. Two of those are used for system stuff, leaving six for keypresses - thus, 6KRO.

>>
>>58844535
If you really want to fall for the meme so badly then amazon sells some. Also if your keyboard doesn't support nkro by default an active adapter won't change that. You'ld need to build a converter
>>
>>58844574
The new full size cooler masters are rebranded Filco keyboards

>>58844673
First of all does your keyboard support nkro? What is it?
>>
>>58844747
I'm considering my options. I will maybe buy a b.mini, which has nkro over ps2, 6kro USB. I would go for a nkro-over-usb keyboard if it also checked all the other boxes in my wish-list *and* had an easy way to switch to normal 6kro-usb in case of compatibility problems which I know exist. That is very unlikely, I understand.
>>
>>58844823
why not get a choc mini since that has a similar layout and nkro

1.-Hit-or-miss build quality. User reviews mention iffy behaviour a few months in; screw that.
2.-No floating key design. Full NKRO is pretty low on my list of desired features and my computer has ps2 anyway. I'm still interested in knowing as much as I can about nkro stuff, though, so pretend I didn't just say that.

Does the noppoo have some kind of switch to disable nkro? How does it deal with OSs that can't handle it?
>>
>>58845203
much obliged. Do you know if the nkro carries over through these converters?

>How does it deal with OSs that can't handle it?
there is a work around in which you plug the keyboard into a passive USB to PS/2 adapter, then plug that into an active PS/2 to USB adapter

>>58845291
It does
>>
>>58845169
>>58845254
>>58845291
>>58845311
I had to do this a few years ago before I was a PC gamer to use my Choc Mini with a XIM Edge.
When you use >>58845311 you lose the NKRO, so just 6KRO.
You will be able to use the keyboard on something that doesn't support the NKRO thing when you use the USB->PS/2->USB thing.
My XIM Edge didn't support it but when I used the adaptor chain it worked.
>1.-Hit-or-miss build quality. User reviews mention iffy behaviour a few months in; screw that.
I think you are talking about chattering. FN+F10 and FN+F11 allows you to change the debouncing time if that becomes a problem. I only used the board for a year or so but didn't have chattering issues, I bought an HHKB because I wanted to try out Topre.
>Does the noppoo have some kind of switch to disable nkro?
No, there's just the adaptor chain.
>>
>>58845374
>My XIM Edge didn't support it but when I used the adaptor chain it worked.
My XIM Edge was incompatible with the Choc Mini's NKRO thing so when I used the chain it removed that.
>1.-Hit-or-miss build quality. User reviews mention iffy behaviour a few months in; screw that.
Should elaborate. I had the POM keycaps one and the side printing wore off quickly and the top legends got messed up too but slower. They're still visible, unlike the side printing which is completely gone. The top printing just got darker, possibly because grime got in it.
The POM material itself isn't so bad but it's pretty smooth.

i posted here for a few weeks when i was learning about mechanicals keyboards figuring out which keyboard to get. i'd imagine most people in these threads don't stay very long. but then there are the autists that make it their life-long mission to obsess about these things.

anyway, would you say that blue switches are for newfags like do they have an excessive amount of tactile and audible feedback or are blue switches for fags like should you have even clunkier keys?
>>
>>58846037
>>58847763
That's not true because that's simply not how LEDs work. All you're doing is essentially turning the brightness up or down on 3 different LEDs: red, green and blue. If there were also black and white LEDs, yeah, you could have 16 million colors or whatever, but it doesn't work like that. You can't make things like brown or gray for example. That doesn't mean it's shit, just that the number that companies use to market RGB everything is extremely exaggerated.
>>
>>58847810
chink keyboards are basically 90% of the recommendations here
>>
>>58847810
look at keyboards in the $80-120 range if you can afford them but a $40 keyboard could be fine if you just want to try it and you're not sure exactly which type of keyboard you want yet
>>
>>58847864
and a $40 mech will probably still be much better than a membrane keyboard
>>
>>58847823
the colors blend together. it's the same how an LCD monitor works. 256 red * 256 green * 256 blue = 16777216 different colors.
>>
>>58847943
Except that works on a much smaller scale, and monitors aren't simply just those 3 LEDs when you consider things like backlight. Yes, they do blend, but that happens on a larger scale on a keyboard, and since there isn't anything else apart from just turning the LED brightness up or down, you don't have the same amount of colors. I'm not saying that you can't set a huge amount of different colors to it, just that no one should be expecting to be able to set any color they want on a keyboard, because as I said, you just can't get some darker shades like brown and grey. It usually ends up looking like dim orange/white.
>>
how do i learn to like mx clears? i made a mistake and got a nippon board with clears and to say i hate it is an understatement. Should i ebay it?

i'll be reading something and realized i've typed
jjjjjjjllllllllllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaa
into some random text box. why do these switches even exist?
>>
>>58848033
it depends on the keyboard but there's the color adjustment for each LED and then there's an additional overall brightness adjustment which is like the backlight on a monitor. you might not get for example a perfectly clean full-spectrum white color since the light is made up of red+blue+green instead of the full light spectrum like on a lightbulb but you should still be able to get pretty much any color you want. if each LED can't go all the way down to zero you might get the problem that you're describing but unless there's a problem with pok3r or some other specific keyboard i'd be more worried about flickering than not being able to set a specific color.

A lot of keycaps will still give enough to fill it out, SP sets, GMK, Enjoypbt I think, and so on

Sadly, I didn't order from aliexpress so I can't help you there. I ordered from Originative during the second group buy. I think if you feel the location you're at is safe enough for mail in general, it should be okay. But aliexpress can take a long ass time.

Right alt, fn, and ctrl are non-standard but my GMK set came with some blanks that fit. They look great on it. I think my Modern Beige set came with some keys that fit too, with legends and such.

A debouncing timer? What the fuck. I tried to use that for the absolute shit keyboard on my laptop, and all I can say is I hate that so much that I just leave the bboouunnccee on. I don't even remember why, specifically. I remember a lot of vomiting, then passing out, then waking up and turning it off, and nothing else.

It boggles my mind that they would accept chatter as a design feature to the point they'd actually include that timer.

Anyway. I've heard of sinless nkro over usb implementations, but there's no sense in actually looking for it, since it seems so rare. Maybe if I were a true programmer I could find it and flash it into my keyboard. Thanks for the help, guys.

Need a keyboard. Was using membrane shit for a while

Thinking of going with a mechanical.

Looking for one thats good for gaming, and is backlit (preferably green or blue lighting)

No budget really, just dont want cheap shit

Any suggestions?
>>
>>58850067
do you want a full-size keyboard with a numpad and everything? because you usually don't need a numpad for gaming and if you get a smaller keyboard you'll have more room left over for mouse movements and you can still have a separate numpad if you want
>>
>>58850091

Doesnt matter really. If the keyboard id good but lacking a number pad Ill judt buy a seperate one. Main focus is the actual keyboard.
>>

As cheap as possible, of course but still durable. Sub 100€ would be good.

Full preferably but still small/compact. If that's too hard, no numpad is just fine.

Don't care too much, might be a neat thing to play around with though.

Some Cherry keyboard with MX Blue switches. Too loud when I have people over or feel like typing away for longer times.
>>
>>58838919
Ok so..... I grew up in the 80s. I remember the "ktang ktang" sound of old keyboards as someone typed on them.
I also remember when keyboards got really quiet almost over night
My question:
Whats the big deal? Why the prefrence of mechanical clicketyclak over quiet keyboards? Can someone explain it to meet please? I really dont get it.
The way i figured it : a keyboard is just a friggin keyboard. And any old keyboard will do.

If you have a working keyboard that doesn't misbehave, and you're looking at a 130$ mechanical keyboard, then you have at leasst 130 reasons not to buy that keyboard. But it does feel better. If you dive in deep, what you should actually be doing is looking at all the small features you would like and trying to get a keyboard that has them all. If you want a particular layout, or if you want a particular design, some materials, iunno.

It's certainly not about value, because if that were so, no keyboard would be worth more than 10$. Personally I see no point in trying to convince a skeptic that mechanical keyboards are worth it, because "a cheap keyboard does the trick" is 100% true anyway. If you like mechanical switches and have disposable income, though, you might like the quality-of-life upgrades or the fashion upgrades.

And then there's the people who buy razer, who are paying a company for them to assure them that they chose correctly. Never again.
>>
>>58850694
Razer's marketing is so fucking bizarre and cult-like.

Their latest Blackwidow ad has a praying mantis and a fly discussing mechanical keyboards, with the mantis being a Razerfag and the fly buying a generic mechanical keyboard. The mantis brags about Razer's huge selection of 3 different switch types, the fly admits to eating and enjoying shit, then the mantis eats the fly.

Apparently people who don't buy Razer products eat and enjoy shit.

I have a few razer things. Major complaints: their mouse, mice being their flagship product, broke within a year. That pisses me off so much I can't fucking express it in words. And it's something that doesn't come up on reviews, because there's no reviewer on earth that includes MTTF. It's undermined my faith in all reviewers, even those I respect.

Then there's the drivers. These drivers ask you to login with an email and password. What the fuck. It's bad on so many levels that I would still hate razer even if it really were as high quality as they think they are.

I'm 100% fine with a company that sells "cool" and "good" products that are more expensive and less quality than those available at other companies, if it means you don't have to think about the details. Because not getting the best deal isn't necessarily getting scammed.

But razer fucked me over with pricey bullshit that has been proven not to be reliable, and by generally having tactics favoring profiting off of people who think they are high quality and just trust them.

Looking into building a board for a set of switches I have coming in the mail, anyone know where I can pick up a solid acrylic case or PCB?
Preferably a high-profile case, I'll also need to pick up a plate, most likely aluminium.
I'm also a little scared of the PCB clones since I don't really want to have to desolder the switches in the case the PCB gives out, does anyone have any experience with b.fakes of GH60 fakes?

On a side note does anyone have any experience with ZealPC's gold plated stabilizers?
I've heard good things about them but I'm not sure they warrent the price-tag.

yea sorry, i just looked at the order and their gaterons clears

could I key another switch type cheap? I'd love this board with some mx browns or mx blues in it. Build quality and size are great, but i thought i would try a linear switch and got burned bad.
>>
>>58850600

On the first point you won't know it feels like shit
until you have tried the alternative. For me it took
three keyboards before I finally understood what
people meant when they said that membrane
boards felt 'mushy', now I would describe membrane
boards as 'swamp-like' as they seem to pull in my fingers
and not want to let go which slows my typing down to a degree.

It did take me three boards to realise this though I suspect it was largely
the last of the three with MX Clears.
>>

forward onto the keyboard so that my wrists are resting
on it while I'm thinking or whatever, which is fine on my

Gat clears or MX reds.

think everyone rest their hands like me obviously

Don't get those stabs. The metal screws and nuts can short the connections on the PCB, forcing you to remove traces.

Literal garbage.
>>
>>58851780

This is pretty accurate. I have a Mionix mouse with RGB logo that's customisable through the software. You can type the value of the R/G/B to adjust the colour, but even going up or down in steps of 10 seems to make no difference, only the ~30 default colours actually work.

In contrast, the 'Palit' logo on my GTX1080 has far more customisation, and you can actually dim or brighten the colour as well as mixing RGB. It's possible to create fluorescent tones, pastel tones, or anything in between.

i got a corsair STRAFE RGB (cherry red) for a present and i honestly hate it and also i don't like the software it crashes all the time along with resetting macros on my corsair mouse

or it randomly doesn't work and i have to restart my pc.

So before this i had logitech G500 and it was really good but broke after 3 years of hard use

So i have a friend who has an untouched G910 Spectrum Keyboard and G600s Mouse

you think its worth it to switch?

personally i'd use blues over blacks, but don't take it from me, i use neither.

Also, paint over stuff. There aren't many mechanical keyboards that cheap, (god knows what the caveat is), so if you want to hit that price point along with a bunch of arbitrary demands, some simple modding might help a lot. The switches on it obviously aren't cherries, the entire thing costs less than 86 cherry switches.

The switch options on the one I linked are the buttons without pictures, so only "键盘→青轴白光", which means "Keyboard - blue switch white backlight". For some reason the other options are still available if you try to order using Basetao, but I'm not sure what's going on there.

Granite was a group buy, aka a limited run made to order for pre orders. You're going to have to keep checking geekhack and massdrop to catch the next one.
>>
>>58860874
why would you want shitty overpriced signature plastic keycaps. Vortex makes some DSA sets, and so do the chinks like pic related.
also
>volume rocker
that's a big meme everyone has moved on to dedicated media keys that can be reprogrammed

again also granite dropped last week and sold out in like three hours, so you snooze you lose
>>
>>58860939
those chink keycaps are thin as fuck plastic, and the legends are really poorly printed.

I looked up the keycap set you listed and what your deemed as being cheap is a little over $100 all said and done, for some chinese shit that has a horrible color combo

there like 81 bucks with free shipping, you also get a whole lot more keycaps. The equivalent set from SP would cost you $220+
>>
>>58860747
thx, ill look for it

i have membrane right now

Is the Planck actually comfortable to use or a huge meme? It's due to go on massdrop again and I'm quite tempted to get one since I have a bag of switches lying about unused.

Ducky keyboards have nice build quality as well as media macros that can be rebound to any key
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/search.php?keyword=&brand=1&switch=3&size=Tenkeyless&led=&capmat=&capprint=&model=&availability=in_stock_pre&show_kb=off&show_kb=on&show_acc=off

I have a full size one so I rebound them all to my numpad on layer 2
>>
>>58861401
This. Get a ducky, you quacker.
>>
>>58860747
me again, i found a magicforce for 22 bucks but shipping to europe is 20€
could you tell me about a similar cheap company that is in europe ?
>>58861303
i could just give my friend a favor and buy his keyboard for that price
>>
>>58861436
>>58861401
Thank you! I think I will. Just talked to my friend, turns out he has a ducky and he has no complaints about it.
>>
What is a keyboard that has normal 1.5 bottom row keys with a normal spacebar, has rgb lighting, as well as a wheel for the volume?
>>
>>58861483
1.5 isn't normal, 1.25 is
>>
>>58861483
>wheel for the volume
why just get dedicated mechanical keys like a normal person
>>
>>58861483
None. You want a volume wheel, you're getting Das or gamer trash. Das has no backlighting, gamer trash has non-standard bottom row. You literally want a product that doesn't exist.
>>
>>58861401
Actually, while my sights are still set on the ducky keyboard, what does /mkg/ think of this one?

>>
>>58861549
It's okay, but Ducky has nkro over USB, which can be disabled if you have compatibility problems. Ducky also has the same exact features expect for the configurable layout so it's really up to you
>>
>>58861535
I figured as much after looking around for a good hour or two

just bought blacks now i have arthritis -.-

I tried to have luck finding a model m at the thrift stores in my city. No luck.

Then I decided to check out local Computer shops and got lucky.
>>
>>58861264
send me a link for that price or else i'm going to assume you're lying
>>
>>58861483
