i'm putting this in a phenom ii build i'm making.
Does it being PCI bottleneck gigabit ?
I have a couple of these things and one is still factory sealed in a box

Unless I'm mistaken, PCI can pull 133 MB/s. Some of it is overhead, but that's true about GbE as well.
You should be more concerned about driver support than bandwidth
>>58833329
do you think linux would have an issue with it ?
>>58833364
I'm fairly sure this NIC is handled by the e1000 driver, so I wouldn't expect any issues on Linux
>phenom ii build I'm making
Whoa was I just transported back to 2011?
>>58833412
i'm using an early 2000's case i found by antec.
it weighs like 20 pounds

maybe he wants to run templeos?

>phenom ii build
>PCI Bottleneck
You'll be fine.
>>58833288
Where did you find a good price on a Phenom II processor? I'm still using an old Phenom x4 and was looking to upgrade.
>>58833614
it was a part i had lying around from one of my old computer builds. it's a little x2 . not sure where to buy them now though
>>58833288
If you want your Gigabit Ethernet, you're gonna have to find a motherboard with PCI-X ports. Good luck with that.
(Tip: server racks may have that kind of ports, maybe you could try to harvest one that is compatible with Phenom II at reasonable price)
>>58833329
true for 32bit pci, although the pic on >>58833288 is a 64bit pci card (266mb/s), so op might not get the full speed of the card if its plugged into a "regular" pci slot (due to overhead) but it will still work, i recon
goddamnit did i just step back in 2009 by accident again?
i just wanted to make an old build
