Do you compile your applications from source or opt for a package manager, /g/?
Both.

Package manager whenever possible. I can't be fucking bothered to check every piece of shit software on my device individually to make sure I'm current.
>>58832956
Really faggot?
When I need to compile something for a specific feature or purpose I'll do it... but usually it comes back to bite my ass. Happens once in a blue moon.
>>58832956
I compile from source with a custom package manager
>>58832956
make ; make install
Don't even care if make fucked up.

When I used GNU + Linux, I always preferred to compile from source. You get to enable features not usually available in the generic package. Package maintainers are lazy and stupid.

Precompiled when I buy them
>>58832956
From source with -mtune customized for my machine, and hardened security settings.
>>58832956
I'd like to compile her application with my source, if you know what I mean.
