Logitech G430 7.1 headset & Linux.
........................................................
It works without the usb, with two channels. But doesn't with with the usb card.
How can i able the 7.1?
I've tried this in leafpad /etc/pulse/daemon.conf:
I changed
; default-sample-channels = 2
to
default-sample-channels = 8
.................................................
No results, but it's detected.

Someone with a usefull answer?
Why do you need a gaming headset in Linux?
It has no games
>>58823819
Maybe because it's the only headset i have.

I think this issue is driver related and not resolved by simple conf changes.
Google for shit like "7.1 in <my_distro>".
>>58823937
If i try the conf change it's because there is of course no driver for linux, there is never driver for whatever stuff in linux.

Its not real surround sound you know. Its emulated thru the software you download. You need the Logitech application whatever its called.
wow, linux supports sound now? I used to be a windows user, but you've convinced me to switch to linux. Now I can listen to enhanced (FREE) FLAC recordings at a high bitrate, and all I have to do is switch my degree to CS and become a competent programmer. WINFAGS BTFO
The virtualized 7.1 surround sounds literally like you are sitting in a giant tin can listening to sound bouncing around you.
Luckily, that headset has a very good sound quality in stereo mode. Just plug it in like any other headset fampai, you dont need the 7.1 gimmick.

Toss it and buy a pair of 558s and a clip mic. 7.1 headphones are a massive meme.
t. owned one of these before I knew any better

Yes i know, i just try to find a similat solution
But finally there is someone with a smart answer.
>>58824162
Yep i know but i'm in dualboot, i'm just tired to unplug usb/plug jack each time i boot to one or the other.

what operating system is compatible as indicated on the box?
>Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10
Hmmm... I wonder why it doesn't work on Linux??

it wont work because you dont have any 7.1 - stereo emulation software, like the one from logitech on windows.
So unless you have an option to select 7.1 output in pulseaudio/alsa , and then mix it to the 2 speakers you have , you wont have surround sound on linux ever. Btw those are stereo anyway, they just mix the output channels to feel "surroundish"
