If you have to, drop out of college for a little bit and find a tech job repairing parts or working with software. Get to know the ins and outs of what you are really interested in or want to be interested in and put your mind to it. Devote at least 4 or 5 hours going in depth with the material and interacting with it. Also, try to meet like-minded people with similar interests, either in person or online and join a community involved with said activity.

Buy something old. Something from the time when you first started enjoying tech. Set it up the same way you had it waaaay back when.
Then, modify it. Add improvements to the device which hadn't been possible at the time. Whether it be an old PowerBook, thinkpad, or keyboard. Appreciate what you've learned and how technology has advanced, then find a use for it. Donate it somewhere, give it to a friend who needs a computer, use it to store or view porn from the era it was made. Enjoy the life which led you to where you are now.

He said passion, which for me goes back to the reason I started. Whenever I personally boot an old machine, specifically one that I had to configure with little knowledge at the time, it makes me think back to when I wanted to learn and know more, and how much I still haven't learned and want I want to do with what I know now.
