I'm tired of this shit.

So fucking tired.

I hate paying $600 for 6 separate backups, and having all 6 drives crash at the same time.

What's the most rugged, and secure way to store electronic media in 2017?

More redundancy OP. Don't connect all drives at once.

you fucked up hooking them up or you are the most unlucky person ever
>>

I didn't.

One was sitting in the basement in a fireproof container.

I went downstairs and took it out to find that a colony of mutated, hyper-intelligent ants had begun using it as a fuel source and were funding a voyage into deep space to use the other 6 when their environment eventually depleted itself.

how did all drives crash at once?

You were either too lazy to replace the first failed drive quickly enough, or you broke the laws of probability, or you're just a complete retard.

I mean fuck, I doubt 100+ drive data centres have more than 2 or 3 drives fail in a week of operation.

bet you they were seagates
>>
>>58818652
two raid 0 setups in two locations attached to different machines always running doing different things
That way you'll know when it really fails
the raid is more redundant than normal, as long as the drive failures are reported in a timely manner then you'll be fine

I'd suggest using a couple of these for backups, swapping them out every day or so:

https://iosafe.com/products-soloG3-overview

* Survives 1550F for 30 minutes
* Survives 10 feet of water for 72 hours
>>
>>58818652
why no just archive it to a bucket on amazon s3...
>>
>>58819178

I'd suggest encrypting, and using Google Nearline. Same interface as S3, but it is as cheap as Glacier, without the added expense that Glacier has for getting data out of it.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
