Good touchpad vs mediocre touchpad + touch screen
Basically macbook vs cheapo windows netbook.
Which would you prefer for a laptop and why?

You get what you pay for. Bang for buck is just excuse of poor. You will never have equally good experience with some cheap Thinkpad.

por que no los dos?
I prefer the Macbook Pro. Touch is a meme. The touchbar is a meme as well. Get the 2016 model without a touchbar.
Don't get the 2015 model brand new, get it used if you want it. 1500 dollars for a haswell is too much.

Regardless of how you feel about touchscreen (I personally like them), if I actually need precision, I'm going to plug in a mouse no matter how good the touchpad is.

>owning a touchscreen laptop and touching it anytime past the first hour after washing hands
>smearing oil/grease from fingers onto the screen if you don't wash your hands every hour
touch screen on a laptop is a joke, imo. it can only be redeemable if a fine-tip stylus can accurately write on it.
I'll just stick to my retina screen macbook. got it back around 2013 and it's still doing good.

Touch screen laptops are pretty comfy. I'd take that over a stupid large touchpad that must be overcompensating for something.

You can buy a car with the price difference op. If you also need a car, I'd suggest the cheap netbook.
Of course if you can afford a car and a macbook pro, go for it.

Well, if you draw = wacom digitizer, if you don't draw you'll probably find out that you're either using a) bluetooth mouse or b) the mediocre touchpad(and in that order).

Wouldn't bang for the buck product in this case be used macbook(if you prioritize the touchpad)?
trackpoint+good keyboard

Have you ever used a touchscreen laptop?

For a roughly three years, running windows 8/8.1. Didn't like using touchscreen for typical desktop stuff, but it was all right for drawing and when reading stuff in tablet mode(it was one of those 2-in-1 hybrids). It had it's uses while on the road, but I'd figure if drawing on the go isn't your priority then touch screen might not be that necessary.
Cheapo Windows laptop (ThinkPads and the like) without a touchscreen. I don't really give a fuck about the touchpad other than it works since I use a mouse anyway. Nobody doing actual serious work uses a fucking touchpad.
Why not spend MacBook-tier money and get a non-cheapo windows netbook?
