I need a computer. There's a guy selling a T400 Core 2 Duo for 100 bucks with a bad battery (lasting 20 minutes according to him) or should I look for a thinkpad with an i5 processor, like an X220?

I wouldn't do more than 80 for one of those, and that's if it's in good condition (no cracks or major scuffs/scratches) and it would need to include a hard drive of some kind and at least 4GB of RAM.
I have one next to me right now. The screen is just ok and it's fast enough for daily use. You should get a 4 cell battery so there not a big thing sticking out of the back and to make it lighter, though it will come at the cost of battery life.

Thanks for the response. I'll think about it then.
It's a shame that I can't find X220s with IPS screen, or T520s with FullHD screen in my country.
Op here. Found a X220 for 300 bucks with extended battery in the city next to mine. I think I'll buy this one instead.

I got a x220 with i7 (2 cores) for $170. It was the tablet version with wacom digitizer. $100 for T400 sounds like a massive overpay.
>x220 i7-2640m ips
>tfw 600$ (~550 Eur) + 30$ shipping
>not even in my country
these fuckin lunatics. i hope my x220 wont ever die, i dont think ill be able to find a replacement.

Damn. I need to sell my x220 if that's what they go for.

my first used thinkpad was an X200 for $80, and it was enough to get my by before I found a great deal on a T410. $100 is too much for so little power

>20 minutes
LMAO

c2d is enough for everyday shitposting/simple college things, 2nd gen i5 is enough to run android virtual machine device while compling in android studio and shitposting in meantime
it's always good to have more power
Is the T400 a good botnet free machine? I wanna make a safe machine that I can use for whatever I may need it.
I know that you can disable Intel ME on C2D.
Am I better off getting a T400 or just getting a regular C2D desktop?
