>spent 6 hours trying to overlock the monitor to exactly 71.928 hz
>closest i got was 71.932 hz
>now i'm realising i cant even tell a difference between 60 and 72hz

what am i doing with my life
>>
why exactly 71.928 hz?
>>
>>58791558
>spent 6 hours trying
How? It takes 5 seconds, you try the setting and it either works or doesn't.
>>
>click 3 times
>6 hours
>>
>>58791569
i have to set the setting manually, there isn't an automatic or preset "setting" that works. i went up and down in +1 or -1 step in 6 overall settings from 60 to 5

Intel graphics center only allows for rounded values like 70,71,72 hz...

I have to use custom resolution utility and set all the timings like front porch, sync width etc. manually because the default presets (automatic, native, standard) are all returning the wrong clock speed in madvr

>madvr
Found your problem.
>>
I just use the crimson drivers and I got my monitor to 80Hz.
>>
>>58791558
>71.928
Why?

>Intel graphics center only allows for rounded values like 70,71,72 hz...
What's wrong with 72hz?

You're literally not going to notice a .0xhz difference why the fuck bother?
>>
So I'm new in that monitor overclock. Is it DANGEROUS? I heard about free freesync on no-freesync monitors and want to try it out.

some people want perfect movie playback and no jitter or stutter. 71.928 is an exact multiple of 23.976, the framerate in which every movie is.
>>
Reminder that it's literally impossible to watch films at 60 Hz.
You only see a vague, distorted approximation of it.
>>
>>58792212
Nope, it either works or it doesn't.
>>
>>58792221
But you literally won't notice your frames playing .3% slower

Maybe if you have bad eyes and a slow brain, yes
>>

>71.928 is an exact multiple of 23.976
what
>>
>>58792221
This isn't a problem on CRTs, is it?
>>
>>58792276
>23.976 * 3 == 71.928
>>
>>58792277
CRTs can run at a much wider range of verticle refresh rates than TFTs, so setting them to run at exactly 71.928 isn't as much of an issue.
>>
>>58792246
>>58792276
of course you'll notice, there is a whole program for speeding up your movies to 24 fps if you have a 72hz or 144hz monitor. it's called reclock, but it's for cucks since it only works with 32-bit movie players. so we might as well call it recuck
>>58792277
what's crt?

AUTISM
>>
>>58791558
it's actually 72/1.001, or 71.9280719281
also here,
Modeline "1920x1080" 164.16 1920 1928 1968 1976 1080 1083 1152 1155 -HSync +VSync # 72/1.001Hz
>>
What's the point if you are not running ULMB?
It will be a blurry mess.
>>
>>58792131
it's ok if you can't just use 72/1.001, but having it exact avoids the need to resample the audio fix the speed difference
>>
>>58792320
Why would you need a 64-bit player anyway? it's not like you'd get more performance out of it somehow - everything's on the GPU as it is.
>>
>>58792320
Interesting. It's essentially the same as the option to sync to refresh that has been becoming popular with emulators.
