What are some games like Shenzhen?
I'd like to practice C or something.

You probably know his other games then. Why not just learn C?
>>58778669
I know my way around C, but websites like codingame and codewars offer bullshit challenges, in my subjective opinion.

Project Euler.

You don't need "games" to have fun

That's some next-level shit
>>58778686
the fuck is a bullshit challenge?

There's TIS-100, as >>58778669 said, but that's still assembly-type code
I don't know of any real 'games' that use C or allow you to choose your language. I'd recommend ProjectEuler.net (>>58778870) for challenges. They start off pretty basic (I think the first one is essentially Fizzbuzz) but they get progressively harder.

implementing XOR via a function. the tests are always too basic and looking at people's code makes me sick.

Then just go and make a brainfuck interpreter and move on to hackerrank or one of the more advanced sites.
There aren't all that many programming games and of those there are almost none that have you program in C
Maybe this? http://rars.sourceforge.net/

TIS-100
Screeps if you're interested in JavaScript. You could also try Google AI challenges.
